High Point board sets candidate-filing deadline, schedules 'Dues Day' and notes facility updates

At the Sept. 23 meeting of the High Point Community Property Owners Board of Directors, the board announced several upcoming member-service dates and facility updates residents should note.

Jean Albano, secretary of the board, said candidate-application forms to run for the board are available at the association office and in the October newsletter. Completed applications with a current photo must be submitted to the office by Oct. 16 before 1 p.m., to be received for the Budget and By-Law meeting.

Greg Myers (finance) announced a recurring 'Dues Day' to allow homeowners to pay assessments in person. The first Dues Day will be Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. in the community center and will include coffee and donuts; the board intends to hold it on or about the first of each month.

Steve Heffron noted the community center will be closed for a special election on Sept. 29 and Sept. 30. Jean Albano reported that a vehicle struck the storage-compound's electrical sliding gate; a replacement gate is being manufactured and will be installed when ready. Jean said 2026 compound agreements and vehicle stickers for RVs will be issued after required paperwork and payment are completed at the office.

During open forum, resident Kathleen Conaway raised concerns about homeless activity and urged that residents call 911 for emergencies and report incidents to the office; meeting minutes record that the info booth and mobile patrol maintain logs and that cameras are used to track activity.

The association also announced sign-up sheets for a Halloween party on Oct. 31 and Thanksgiving and Christmas events; the board said the emergency-button at the information booth is tested at noon on the first Monday of every month.
