Holly Hill swears in Officer James Marks and promotes Sergeant Jason Weiss to lieutenant

The City Commission witnessed the swearing-in of James Marks and a promotion to lieutenant for Sergeant Jason Weiss.
The presenting official said Officer Marks graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, served with the Florida Highway Patrol and in airport law enforcement, and worked in security and corrections before joining the Holly Hill Police Department. During the ceremony the chief administered the oath of office and urged the officer to "support, protect, and defend the Constitution and the government of the United States and of the state of Florida and the charter of the City of Holly Hill."
Speaking about the promotion, the chief said Lieutenant Weiss had more than 15 years of service, held supervisory roles across operational divisions and possessed training certifications and leadership experience. The chief told Lieutenant Weiss the promotion is not a reward but a responsibility and urged him to lead with "courage, humility, accountability, and understanding." Former Chief Mark Barker presented the badge for the promotion.
Commissioners and the presiding officer offered congratulations and recognized the significance of the ceremonies to department morale.
