The Town of Hubbardston Select Board voted unanimously at its meeting to post an interim town administrator position and to charge a search committee to recruit candidates.
The chair said the current interim candidate, Sean, accepted another job closer to his home and will leave soon, prompting a new posting. "They're gonna be due by July 31, which is the Friday right before our next meeting on August 3," the chair said, describing the board's plan to review applications and bring up to four candidates for interviews.
A committee member moved to "post the temporary town administrator position as edited by Sean," and a second was recorded. The board conducted a roll-call vote; Peter, Chris, Terry and Katie were recorded as voting yes. Christina was directed to post the announcement the following day.
The board also discussed who should serve on the search committee. The chair proposed setting a minimum of seven members so the group would include town officials and resident volunteers; the board moved, seconded and voted unanimously to charge the Town Administrator search committee "as written" and to post for volunteers. The chair said staff (Mel and Christina) will contact previous committee members to ask whether they will serve again and will post the opportunity to solicit new applicants.
During miscellaneous business, a committee member asked that the facilities manager be asked to address deteriorating railings, requesting an email be sent to expedite repairs. The chair noted Sean will wrap up outstanding items before his departure. The board set its next meeting for August 3.
Votes at a glance: The board voted unanimously to (1) post the interim town administrator position (motion moved by a committee member identified in the meeting as "Fitzgerald" and seconded by another member), (2) charge the town administrator search committee "as written," and (3) adjourn the meeting; roll-call votes were recorded as unanimous.
