Harrison County commissioners on July 1 ratified in open court two purchase actions intended to clear title and allow fencing and layout work at the county airport.
The court approved a discretionary exemption and ratified purchase of about 1.5 acres from SNC Properties for $75,000 to acquire land north of the airport and adjacent to ball fields. The judge said a prior survey issue was resolved and the acquisition will clear property needs near the Northview Airport.
Separately, the court ratified an amendment to a June 3 contract for purchase of parts of lots 1–9 of the Orchards addition to accommodate airport layout drawings from TxDOT Aviation. The purchase price was modified to $75,000 plus a 6% fee to Clayton Allen, bringing the seller‑paid total to approximately $80,000; the seller will pay the title policy and prorated taxes. Commissioners discussed clearing trees and fencing several parcels and noted a pending 0.5‑acre parcel on the south end of the runway that could close later in the week.
Both measures passed unanimously, recorded as 5–0 in the transcript. The judge indicated the acquisitions complete the remaining parcels needed for the airport’s immediate layout and security improvements.
