Commission raises concerns about PCA service cuts, private building access and plans Community Inclusion Award

June Hailer also said she received notification that PCA services are being cut back and suggested contacting the office of "state Senator Mark" to express concerns; commissioners discussed challenges clients may face if the program is reduced. No formal action was taken during the meeting beyond the request to alert a state office and continued monitoring of the situation.
The commission introduced Amy Chapman‑Johnson as a new member; Chapman‑Johnson works with the Brain Injury Association and said the organization offers several support groups and has an office on Elm Street in Pittsfield. Commissioners were reminded to complete conflict-of-interest forms.
The commission announced plans for an ADA celebration at its July meeting that will include a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall and creation of the Commission on Disabilities Community Inclusion Award; Chair Cathy Carchedi will present a recommended awardee at the June meeting for a vote.
