Mayfield board approves personnel changes, conference attendance and routine business

The Mayfield Independent School Board approved a slate of routine business and personnel actions Oct. 21, voting unanimously on a consent agenda that included minutes, calendar and SBDM budget amendments, athletic and field trips, conference attendance and several personnel items.
The consent agenda (42 items) was approved on a motion by board member Lorane Smith, seconded by board member Martha Wynstra. Among the items approved were travel for MMS and MHS athletic and band events, attendance for board members at the KSBA Winter Symposium (Dec. 6-7, 2024) and the KSBA Annual Conference (Feb. 21-23, 2025), and acceptance of any and all SFCC FY 2025 KETS Offers of Assistance totaling $19,800 with district match approved.
The board also approved an MOU with His House Ministries and approved a classified speech/language therapist position. The treasurer’s report, current bills and salaries were reviewed and approved. The October 2024 personnel report listing new hires (Megan Williams, MES preschool instructional assistant; Sonia Merino, full-time classified bus monitor), a transfer (Jenny McNutt), several resignations (Shelina Sanderson; Nicole Keeton; Freda Jackson) and newly appointed substitutes was reviewed and approved upon a motion by Martha Wynstra, seconded by Joe Green; the vote was unanimous.
The superintendent's credit card statement and annual physical were reviewed and signed by board chair Michelle Arnett. Mr. Edwards updated the board on progress he has made regarding superintendent Standard 3: Cultural Leadership. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
