Trappe council approves $16,986 HVAC replacement for council and administrator offices using ARPA interest funds

Trappe’s Town Council on Feb. 4 approved replacement of the council room and administrator office heating and air-conditioning systems and authorized using interest earned in the town’s ARPA account to pay the vendor.
Town Administrator Erin Braband presented a Comfort Plus proposal to replace two aging systems with a multi-zone ductless mini-split system for $16,985.96, saying the existing units are over 20 years old and had required roughly $2,000 in repairs in the prior two weeks. Commissioner Walter Chase moved to approve Comfort Plus’s proposal and to use ARPA interest-earned funds to pay for the work. Commissioner Michael Sullivan seconded the motion, and the council approved it unanimously.
President Newnam asked the town to seek additional companies for future maintenance contracts. The council did not record a motion to amend the project scope or to solicit competitive bids at this meeting; Superintendent Shawn Lane was asked to obtain additional equipment quotes for other public-works needs at a later date.
