FRANKFORT — The Kentucky Board of Education on Feb. 6 presented the 2024 Kevin C. Brown Strategic Priority Award to Rowan County Schools for district work to adopt and implement evidence-based early literacy practices under the Read to Succeed Act (Senate Bill 9, 2022).
Commissioner Robbie Fletcher and KBE Chair Sharon Robinson announced the winner during the meeting and congratulated Rowan County Schools for its focus on early literacy and implementation efforts. The award recognizes a public school or district that demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing early literacy through evidence-based practices.
KDE thanked the recipients and acknowledged district staff for their work to support students’ early reading outcomes.
