Kentucky Board of Education approves facility waivers for four districts

The board next approved a Campbell County waiver to exceed the 125% limitation in Sec. 305 of the Facilities Planning Manual (702 KAR 4:180). Mike Borchers moved the motion, Lu Young seconded, and the board approved it unanimously.
Edmonson County’s request sought a waiver of 702 KAR 4:050, Sec. 4(4)(b), to permit property acquisition for a replacement site for Kyrock Elementary School. Diane Woods moved the motion, Lee Todd seconded, and the board approved the waiver unanimously.
Finally, the board approved a Newport Independent waiver to waive Part 2.A.15 of the Facility Programming Construction Criteria Planning Guide (incorporated in 702 KAR 4:170). Randy Poe moved and Julie Pile seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Each waiver was presented by KDE staff who noted the statutory and regulatory sections involved and recommended approval. The board recorded unanimous voice votes for all four motions; no dissent or abstentions were reported.
