FGCU hailed for accreditation success; administration highlights multiple 100% pass rates

Florida Gulf Coast University achieved reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) with zero findings, the university’s president and interim provost told trustees April 8.

Interim Provost Tony Barringer and President Aysegul Timur said the initial report listed 16 standards of concern but a focused response and the on-site visit in February resulted in SACSCOC finding zero areas of non‑compliance and no recommendations on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). "This outcome reflects the outstanding work at FGCU," Chair Michael Wynn said.

President Timur highlighted academic achievements across campus: the School of Nursing reported a 100 percent pass rate on the national exam for the second consecutive year; all six undergraduate programs in the College of Education reported 100 percent pass rates on Florida teacher certification exams and immediate employment for graduates; occupational therapy graduates achieved a nine‑year streak of 100 percent pass rates on their national exam; and Doctor of Physical Therapy graduates posted a 100 percent pass rate for 2024 with 13 percent earning a perfect score.

DeLuca demonstrated the Scorecard dashboard used to track PBF metrics and several trustees praised the tool’s transparency and integration in university planning. Trustee Edward Morton said he had not seen a comparable dashboard across the State University System.

The Board will discuss student success and accountability in a planned June 10 workshop; the Board released 50 percent of PBF funds tied to the Student Success Plan after approval by the Board of Governors in March, the president said.
