Business manager reports trustee filing deadline, insurance review and contingency planning

At the public meeting the board heard a business manager report about several administrative items, including trustee filings and insurance renewal planning.
Heather, the district business manager, told the board the school posted open trustee positions on the reader board and the district website and that declarations for candidacy are due by Feb. 9. She said two trustee seats are up for reelection and that, as of the meeting, no declarations had been filed. "We did post on the reader board as well as the website about open positions... and that they would be due by February 9," Heather said.
Heather also said the district will meet with its insurance broker on Friday to review options and to prepare in case a proposed health trust does not move forward. She explained the districts renewal had originally been scheduled for September; if the health trust is implemented the trust would likely honor the September renewal timeline, but if the trust does not go forward the districts renewal date would move up to July. Heather described the meeting with a Missoula-based brokerage (she named Marcia McCollum) to discuss alternatives.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the timeline and the broker; no formal action was taken on insurance at the meeting. The board moved later to an executive session to conduct the superintendents evaluation.
