The Delano Planning Commission on March 9 nominated and confirmed its leadership, approved prior meeting minutes and heard staff updates about multiple local development projects.
Chairperson Jeff Demeules called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Phil Kern, city administrator, introduced new Commission members Lexa Isles and Mike Maharas. In a pair of procedural motions, the commission nominated and confirmed Jeff Demeules for Chairperson (motion by Jon Krieg, seconded by Joe Tipka) and Josh Gehlen for Vice Chairperson (motion by Joe Tipka, seconded by Jeff Demeules); both motions "carried" according to the minutes.
The Commission approved the February 9, 2026 regular meeting minutes on a motion by Jeff Demeules, seconded by Joe Tipka; the minutes record the motion as carried. Kern then provided updates on previously approved development projects: Prairie Ridge has reapplied and received final plat approval from the City Council with a development agreement scheduled to appear on a forthcoming Council agenda and construction anticipated this spring; Parkview Hills North has applied for final plat approval with construction possible in 2026; and The Caves of Delano, an owner-occupied storage project approved in 2024, has a new developer and revised plans expected to return for approval with construction expected to resume this spring.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM.
