The Stratmoor Hills Sanitation District board heard updates Wednesday that its contractor will clean an additional 10,000 feet of sewer main this month and next to improve system reliability. District Manager Kirk Medina told the board that DRC Construction Services is scheduled to perform the cleaning in February and March and that the work targets mains identified as the dirtiest in the system.
Superintendent Nancy Lee Watkins said she has been pleased with DRC's work to date and that she will move their crews next to work in the valley. Medina said the district expects the cleaned mains to make the sewer collection system “much more reliable.”
The meeting packet also included a manager's report noting staff reviewed January water usage to confirm sewer‑averaging calculations will reflect indoor residential use for the coming year. Medina said staff member Shana completed the review; the board did not change the averaging method during the meeting.
Watkins reported that the district's Vac‑Con truck, recently picked up from Iron Buffalo in Denver, returned with additional damage that staff attributed to outdoor storage. Staff have completed most repairs but Medina said further work will be needed from Ferris Equipment Company. The board did not take formal action on equipment repairs during the meeting.
The operations updates reflect routine system maintenance and equipment repair planning; the district will proceed with the scheduled cleaning and address outstanding truck repairs through vendor work as needed.
