Delano council selects preferred flag design; staff announces picnic and pavilion ribbon‑cutting plans

City Administrator Phil Kern reminded Council of the annual employee picnic scheduled for June 22 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM and suggested holding a ribbon‑cutting for the new Central Park Pavilion following the picnic; staff anticipates substantial completion of the pavilion in the coming weeks. Kern also noted the annual intergovernmental trap shoot scheduled for July 27 and discussed council concerns that tents placed adjacent to the new pavilion during Fourth of July festivities could obstruct or detract from the structure; Kern said the current event permit does not specifically authorize tent placement adjacent to the pavilion.
No formal action was recorded; staff will proceed with the preferred flag design and continue event planning.
