At the March 12 meeting Craig presented a multi-item summer maintenance plan for Stanton County USD 452 that the board reviewed for timing and scope.
Key items included finishing an electrical panel (planned with LOBO’s Electric in early June), repainting classrooms and black trim (with the commons area noted as especially challenging), replacing ceiling tiles, stripping floors down to the rock, and inspecting the kitchen drain system via camera during spring break to determine repairs. The concession stand will be rewired for additional appliance power by Gooesen’s Electric and Ted’s Plumbing was scheduled to check a pump tied to hot-water issues.
Athletic-area work includes moving football goal posts and re-centering them for conversion to 8‑man football (relocating the center to the 40‑yard line to align with an 80‑yard field). The board also flagged varsity lockers pulling away from walls and a damaged elementary playground slide for immediate repair or removal during spring break. Craig and JJ were assigned to start the playground slide removal and to continue project planning; Mr. Horn said he will pursue grant opportunities (the Patterson Grant was identified as a likely fit) but noted some grant windows are not open yet.
No large dollar amounts or contract awards were approved at this meeting; the board discussed scheduling and contractor involvement and directed staff to proceed with inspections and planning.
