The Beloit City Council approved a resolution renewing an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs’ Division of Emergency Management to allow Beloit Fire Department personnel to continue participating on the state’s urban search and rescue team.
A fire‑department representative said Beloit has participated in the team since its inception and currently has five members assigned to the urban search and rescue unit. The representative said these technicians receive advanced urban search-and-rescue training that remains available locally when team members are not deployed and that the department hopes to increase participation as consolidation of neighboring departments proceeds.
Councilors moved, seconded and approved the renewal resolution by voice vote. The agreement authorizes continued participation and training benefits for Beloit personnel.
