Marathon Petroleum donates funds for EMS training in St. Paul Park

The City of St. Paul Park on July 20 publicly thanked Marathon Petroleum for providing a grant to support emergency-medical-services training for local public-safety personnel.
Mayor Franke introduced the recognition and said the funds will be used to "train up all of our public safety personnel, police and fire, to the level of EMS," calling the donation "a big deal for our city and for our partnering and neighboring cities." The council and Marathon staff paused for pictures following the presentation.
Eric Bonard, general manager at the refinery, said the company values community partnership and public-safety support. "Public safety is obviously something that's very important to us, and so we're thrilled to be able to partner with you guys, provide these funds to help get that training folks need," Bonard said.
Franke and council members praised the refinery's ongoing engagement with the city. No formal council action was required beyond the public recognition at the start of the meeting.
