Winston-Salem Dash outline July 4 celebration honoring 13 centenarians, largest fireworks show to date

Brian DeAngelis, introduced to the council as executive director of the Winston-Salem Dash, told the City Council the team is planning a large July 4 celebration that will honor 13 local residents who have reached 100 years of age.
"We are going to be highlighting 13 members of our community, which are centurions," DeAngelis said, adding that the club will present a proclamation with Mayor Alan Joins during the event.
DeAngelis said the celebration will include live performances, appearances by team entertainers, face painters and balloon artists, and four painters who will produce live paintings to commemorate the occasion. He also told council members the fireworks display will be the largest the Dash have presented, lasting more than 20 minutes.
"This show is going to be over 20 minutes long and have the most total fireworks that we've ever shot," DeAngelis said, and he encouraged residents to buy tickets soon, saying the team historically sells out.
Mayor Alan Joins and the council did not take formal action on the presentation; the appearance was informational and scheduled before the council moved to the ordinance second readings.
