Pequannock board to apply for increased federal Title funds; extraordinary aid slightly above budget

District administrators told the board July 20 they will seek modest increases in federal Title funding and reported a small favorable variance in state extraordinary aid.
Mister Gibbs outlined the grant figures under consideration: Title I $48,819 (budgeted $41,487, an increase of $7,332), professional development $24,414 (budgeted $25,525, a reduction of $1,111), Title III $5,164 (budgeted $1,342, an increase of $3,822), and Title IV $10,000 (budgeted $7,500, an increase of $2,500). "So overall, the school district is looking to pick up an additional $12,543 in federal funding," he said.
He also said the district received notice of extraordinary aid in the amount of $726,858 — $858 more than was budgeted — and that the board packet includes these figures for approval as part of the support agenda.
The packet also recorded two short‑term (one month) contracts for school board attorneys at current rates that will end at the end of August, and administrators said they are working with an architect on plans for a new board office. The board did not vote separately on the grant figures at the workshop but moved the support agenda items forward for action during the meeting.
Next formal action on selecting an attorney firm will occur after scoring of candidates and a board vote planned for the August 17 meeting.
