Committee clarifies holiday definition for 24-hour county services

A staff member explained the proposed revision to the county holiday policy, saying the change clarifies how holidays begin and end for departments with 24-hour operations (for example, EMS). "The holiday shall begin at the end and at the beginning according to the department's established work day as to find our timekeeping system," the staff member said.
The presenter said the revision was not intended to change existing practices for most departments but to reflect how the county's timekeeping system defines a work day. "So we're basically not changing anything. We're just clarifying that," the staff member said.
Committee members confirmed there are no planned operational changes outside EMS and agreed to place the clarified policy on the July 28 fiscal court agenda for formal consideration.
