Winston-Salem Continuum of Care to release HUD NOFO; local notice, deadlines posted Monday

Odette Jambos Sanchez, Continuum of Care program manager for the City of Winston-Salem, told the commission on ending homelessness that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) will be released Monday, June 22, and that the Continuum’s federal application deadline to HUD is Aug. 26.
The announcement matters because HUD NOFO awards support local homelessness programs, including rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing. Odette said the NOFO and a separate NCESG funding notice will be posted to the city website and shared with local news outlets; she urged providers to review HUD income limits and other guidance that will accompany the solicitation.
“We will be actually releasing this Tuesday a request for proposal for NOFO,” Odette said, describing the NOFO as a federal funding opportunity meant to support local partners already “boots on the ground.” She reiterated that the city will publish a public notice with local intake timelines and that the Continuum will send more detailed application instructions to partner agencies.
A member asked about local due dates. Odette said the Continuum’s submission to the federal government is scheduled for Aug. 26 and that there is an internal timeline for partner agencies to respond before that date; she added the public notice with exact local deadlines will be posted Monday and will appear on the city website and the city’s Facebook page.
No formal motions or votes were taken on funding priorities during the meeting. The Continuum said staff will circulate the NOFO text and any local guidance as soon as HUD posts the solicitation.
