Silver Creek approves $1-an-hour raise and backpay for maintenance staff

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 17 to grant a $1.00-per-hour raise and retroactive backpay to its maintenance employees after recent performance reviews.
Chairman Mike Helman said both maintenance employees completed reviews on Dec. 6 and “met or exceeded expectations.” Helman moved to approve backpay for the raise retroactive to Oct. 28; the motion, recorded in the minutes as “Motion made by Helman to backpay maintenance employees (Blake) raise of $1.00 per hour from October 28-current, second by Geyen, carried 4-0,” was seconded by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen and carried unanimously.
Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen presented the treasurer’s information linked to the personnel item. The board noted that the agreed review schedule tied eligibility for the raise to reaching 120 days from hire (Oct. 26). The minutes identify one maintenance employee by name, Blake, and indicate both employees were covered by the action.
The board also reported that a grant extension affecting maintenance work had been approved by the county; no vote on the grant extension was recorded in the minutes.
The board adjourned its organizational recess and continued other agenda business after taking the personnel vote.
