The Beaufort County School Board accepted the OE‑18 monitoring report for school food and nutrition services during its Feb. 18 meeting after district staff and a contractor presented video excerpts of food‑service activities and described wellness and nutrition education initiatives.
"This is approval of OE 18 monitoring report. Essentially saying this this isn't contract related. This is related to, the district's monitoring of OE 18 and the monitoring plan," the district speaker stated during the motion to accept the report. Board members asked how the district captures student and family feedback; the contractor representative said the company conducts its own surveys and the district staff said they would request and relay those results.
The presentation described programs such as "Wellness Wednesday," nutrition education, and other initiatives intended to increase student access to and familiarity with healthier menu items. Board members requested clearer reporting of student survey results in future monitoring so the board can evaluate how students and families perceive the meals.
On the motion to accept the monitoring report, the board voted in favor and the transcript records the motion passing in the public session.
