Board approves YMCA MOU, Orion adult-education pilot and technology renewals

An Orion representative presented a State Board of Education–approved pilot that allows hybrid attendance-counting for adult education students (a mix of online and in-person activities). The presenter said the pilot aims to make adult programming more accessible to older and working learners; the board voted to participate so district adult learners can join the Orion pilot this year.
District technology staff recommended renewals for the district’s mobile-device manager (MDM), Microsoft productivity/email services, and an AWS disaster-recovery storage service. IT staff noted AWS is a monthly cost and expected to exceed $20,000, which is why the item was presented for board approval. Trustees approved the renewals by voice vote.
These approvals allow existing student-support partnerships and district technology infrastructure to continue into the coming school year.
