Planning board sets Aug. 3 public hearing for AT&T antenna modifications

Patrick O'Rourke of Centerline Communications, representing AT&T, told the Planning Board the company plans to replace antennas on an existing 240-foot tower and that the new antennas will be smaller and impose less structural stress.
“we have to swap out antennas,” O’Rourke said, describing the equipment change as a technology upgrade that does not alter tower height or visual impact.
Town staff and board members reviewed submission materials and concluded state/local code does not allow a waiver of the public hearing requirement for collocation projects. The board scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 3, 2026, and instructed the applicant to work with town staff on certified-mail and public-notice requirements, mailing radii and any required project materials for the hearing notice.
The board noted that many past hearings drew no public attendance but emphasized statutory notice requirements and the need to document neighbor notification. The applicant said he will coordinate with Joanne in the planning office to confirm noticing requirements and the list of nearby properties for certified mailing.
