Bloomington accepts $10,479 bid to televise Canal Street sewer; lead service lines found

The Village of Bloomington board unanimously accepted a $10,479 bid from Kleiber Hydro Jetting and Vac LLC to televise and clean the sewer on Canal Street, a step the village said is needed to determine pipe condition before deciding on broader water and sewer replacements.
Jordan Fure of Delta 3 presented the bids and said Kleiber was the low timely bidder; Flow-Rite Pipe and Sewer Services submitted the next lowest timely bid at $10,550. On a motion by Dennis Moris, seconded by Chasity Allen, the board accepted Kleiber's bid and Jordan noted work could begin as soon as that week to meet a March deadline.
Separately, maintenance lead Leitzinger reported finding lead service lines on Canal Street and a curb stop at Tranny’s Plus that was covered with concrete. Leitzinger said the village will wait for EPA guidance to determine whether the lead service lines must be addressed immediately or can be handled during the planned road project.
Jordan explained the televised inspection and cleaning will provide documentation for grant applications and to identify problems such as cracked pipes found in a similar recent project. The board approved the Kleiber contract and directed staff to coordinate scheduling and grant-related documentation.
