The Village Board agreed Oct. 6 to postpone consideration of a Land Use Permit for KC Investments, property at 109 State Hwy 35, after trustees expressed concern the owner might be converting part of the feed mill to residential use.
Clerk Atterbury explained the permit application covered interior work — adding a full upstairs bathroom, finishing a roughed‑in lower-level full bath, and adding a half bath — but noted the permit had expired and the board questioned the owner’s intended use. Trustee Dennis Moris and others raised concerns that conversion to residential use could put extra demand on the village sewer system and noted a camper on site that appears connected to water and electricity.
President Robert McLimans proposed postponing the decision until the Nov. 3 meeting and asked to consult Building Inspector Josh Copsey to clarify what is legally permissible. Trustees asked staff to request a written plan from the owner to clarify intended use; they agreed no work can proceed until the permit is approved.
The board will revisit the application after receiving the requested documentation and the building inspector’s review.
