The Anderson County School Board approved multiple construction-related payments and a deduct change order at its March 10 meeting.
Administrators asked the board to approve payment summary #16 for the Anderson County Middle School/ Saffel Street Elementary projects (BG-23-130), a package totaling $5,251.90 that listed TE Masonry ($704.73), a painting vendor ($3,848.80) and Codell Construction ($698.37). The board moved, seconded and approved the payment by roll-call vote.
Separately, the board approved change order 11-4 (BG-23-130), a $990 deduct from Rising Sun Development for demolition work the contractor did not perform at Saffel Elementary; the asbestos abatement had been handled directly by the school. Administration also added and the board approved Agenda Item 19: a $10,638 payment to Facility Commission Group for commissioning on the Saffel Street/Anderson County Middle School HVAC project; administrators noted additional related invoices will appear on the April agenda.
Why it matters: Approving these payments and the deduct advances project closeout and formalizes district costs for commissioning and remediation already completed or underway. Administration said commissioning work is wrapping up and final closeout is expected next month once remaining HVAC test-and-balance items are corrected.
What’s next: Administration said remaining items, including a second commissioning invoice in the mid-five-figure range, will be on the April agenda for final closure.
