Superintendent Tim Reuter briefs council on facilities assessment and community task force

Superintendent Tim Reuter of Proctor Public Schools updated the Proctor City Council on July 20 about the district’s recent facilities assessment and next steps for prioritizing repairs and investments.

Reuter said the district completed a facilities assessment this year covering school buildings, recreational areas and fields. He said the next step is to form a community task force composed of school personnel and district citizens to review assessment results, set priorities and develop a plan for what the district will invest in moving forward. “Our mission and vision is, that we’re driven by purpose and powered by community to educate, engage, and inspire,” Reuter told the council.

The district also participated in a mapping program with Saint Louis County (described in the packet as a mapping project) to provide detailed facility maps to first responders. Reuter said SROs, police and fire personnel will receive booklets with detailed maps of district buildings to improve emergency response.

On facilities specifics, Reuter described parking as a priority and noted possible opportunities to expand parking near the high school and middle school. He said the district will continue coordination with city staff and emergency personnel and will update the council in January and July going forward.

Councilors thanked Reuter and said city staff would follow up when needed; no formal action was taken on the presentation.
