Julie, a library representative, told attendees that the Crown Point library has nearly 2,400 children participating in its dinosaur‑themed summer reading program and listed several summer and fall events including story time in the park, a movie night at Bulldog Park on July 31 (gates 7 p.m., movie 7:30 p.m.), trolley tours and a parent book club in September.
Julie said the library is installing a new donor‑funded story walk at Sourman Woods and is partnering with the city to plan the installation and community input. She also noted an Indiana Historical Society exhibit on women’s suffrage is on display at the library and encouraged residents to visit.
On funding, Julie said recent state legislation limits allowable budget growth to 0.5% for libraries unless they pursue binding review with the county fiscal body; the library’s 2026 budget is just over $3.7 million and she said staff are assessing whether to request binding review.
The library will distribute newsletters and promoted events at the Farmer’s Market and encouraged families to attend story time and other programming.
