Questa council approves zoning amendment, library stucco contract and equipment purchases

The Questa Village Council on Feb. 10 approved an amendment to Planning and Zoning Ordinance 1974-43, accepted multiple procurement contracts and authorized equipment purchases during a regular meeting at the Village Council Chambers.
At a public hearing, the council considered proposed amendments to Planning and Zoning Ordinance 1974-43. Bobby Ortega, owner of Sierra Hermosa RV Park, urged the council to explicitly incorporate RV parks and gravel pits into the updated ordinance language and said he was pleased to see changes moving forward. Councilor Jason Gonzalez moved to approve the amendment; Councilwoman Louise Gallegos seconded. Councilors Brent Jaramillo and Daryl J. Ortega moved an adjustment to add new designations while grandfathering existing properties. A roll-call vote recorded Councilors Jason Gonzalez, Brent Jaramillo, Louise Gallegos and Daryl J. Ortega as voting YES; the motion carried.
The council then approved several action items on the consent and action agenda. Councilwoman Louise Gallegos moved and Councilor Brent Jaramillo seconded approval of a facility build proposal for stucco work at the Questa Public Library and authorized the mayor or administrator to sign the final negotiated contract; roll call was recorded in favor and the motion carried. The council approved the purchase of two police units under a State Price Agreement with Chalmers Ford (motion by Councilor Daryl J. Ortega; second by Councilor Jason Gonzalez) with roll-call approval.
The council approved Resolution 2026-03, a Transportation Project Fund (TPF) extension request for LP50052 Bridge #8532 (motion by Councilwoman Gallegos; second by Councilor Jaramillo), and accepted a GM Emulsion proposal for partial construction on Embargo Road under a State Price Agreement and authorized the mayor or administrator to sign the negotiated contract. The Embargo Road vote was recorded as Jason Gonzalez YES, Brent Jaramillo YES, Louise Gallegos YES and Daryl J. Ortega NO; the measure passed by majority.
