Union City Borough Council on Aug. 27 accepted a $16,679 quote from Construction Services of PA to install a canoe and kayak launch at the American Legion ball field, contingent on the borough receiving an easement from the American Legion.
Bids were not required because the project cost fell below the borough’s $23,200 bidding threshold. The engineer from The EADS Group reviewed the quotes; Blum Property Services quoted $18,541.50 while Construction Services of PA quoted $16,679. Councilor Osborn moved to accept the lower quote upon receipt of the easement, Councilor Kerns seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
The motion authorizes the borough to proceed with the selected contractor once the easement is secured; the council did not specify a construction start date or funding source during the meeting.
