City Administrator Brian Bullock presented two resolutions to create dedicated savings accounts for equipment purchases.
Resolution 2026-08 creates a capital-improvement fund within the general fund to allow the city to save for large purchases such as road equipment and mowers that are unaffordable in a single fiscal year. The council adopted the resolution (motion by Drew Dawson; seconded by Michael Taylor) with four aye votes.
Resolution 2026-09 establishes a street-and-alley restricted asset account under MCA 15-70-101(4) that would allow the city to set aside 25% of state fuel-tax receipts annually for future street and equipment needs. Dawson moved to adopt the resolution; Taylor seconded and it passed with four aye votes.
Bullock said the funds will enable multi-year planning for high-cost equipment rather than one-time appropriations from a single budget year.
