Brockton trustees approve hires, summer staff, MHSA membership and elect board officers

At the May 13 meeting the Brockton School Board approved multiple personnel hires and summer school staffing, authorized membership and dues for the Montana High School Association, approved MASBO conference travel for the incoming superintendent, and completed its annual organization elections.
The Brockton School Board approved a slate of personnel actions, athletic and summer-school staffing, and administrative items at its May 13 meeting.
Trustee Rae Jean Belgarde moved, and Trustee Wilfred Lambert seconded, to accept a list of resignations and to approve several classified hires and substitute drivers, with pending background checks where noted; the motion carried 5-0. The board separately approved extracurricular hires including Emerson Young as assistant golf coach and Sunny DeCoteau as a junior-high/elementary assistant track coach to finish the season.
Administrators presented and the board approved the 2025 Summer School staffing roster for the five-week program running May 27–June 27 for grades K–11. The approved roster includes a summer school administrator, classroom teachers, substitutes, food service staff and support personnel.
The board approved membership in the Montana High School Association for Brockton High School for 2025–26, and authorized payment of annual dues ($2,500), concussion insurance ($66), and liability catastrophe insurance ($302). The board also approved travel and compensatory time for incoming Superintendent Loverty Erickson to attend the MASBO Summer Conference in Great Falls June 10–13.
District Clerk Cheri' Nygard issued certificates of election and administered the oath of office to Rae Jean Belgarde and Sammy Nygard, who had been elected by acclamation. During the annual organization the board nominated and elected Sammy Nygard as Board Chair (vote recorded as four for, Nygard abstained) and Wilfred Lambert as Vice Chair (four for, Lambert abstained); Cheri' Nygard was appointed Clerk unanimously.
