Troy board approves bus routes, supplemental contracts and two .5 FTE athletic director hires

At its Aug. 11 regular meeting, the Troy School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved several operational and personnel items as part of routine business.

The board approved the 2025–2026 bus routes as established by the district transportation coordinator. Trustee Daniel Moyer moved approval and Trustee Lisa Hunter seconded; the motion passed with all voting aye.

Trustees approved supplemental contracts for certificated staff and extra duties/activities contracts for classified staff after Trustee Wendy Fredrickson moved the measure and Trustee Lisa Hunter seconded. The board also approved hiring Kelly Carlstrom and James Stoner as .5 full-time-equivalent athletic directors, following a motion from Trustee Lisa Hunter and second by Trustee Daniel Moyer.

The consent agenda was approved by unanimous consent and included the regular board meeting minutes of July 14, 2025, bills paid totaling $402,560.56, approval of the Special Education Manual (2024), and classified personnel actions that recorded resignations from Kristina Carter, Whitney Atwood, Judy Deskins, Tyler Strunk and John Marone. The board noted four classified positions still open for 2025–2026 (two special education paraprofessionals, one food service helper and one bus driver).

Trustee Lisa Hunter successfully moved to change the September regular meeting date from Sept. 8 to Sept. 15, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Superintendent Klaire Vogt reported other informational items during the meeting, including state-leading IRI student achievement results, an anticipated K–12 enrollment of 336 as of Aug. 4, 2025, transportation cross-training and app trials, administrative internship plans, and preparations by facilities staff for the school year. Vogt also said she requested a quote to repair brick on the outside of the bus garage.

All motions recorded in the meeting passed unanimously; no public comments were made during the public-comment period.
