The Royston City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2027 budget totaling $10,759,716 on June 9, 2026. The adoption came at the council’s meeting after a public hearing that opened at 5:00 PM and drew no public comment.
Mayor Pro‑Tem Matt Fields presided over the hearing and meeting. Councilman Fletcher Hodges moved to adopt the resolution to approve the FY2027 budget; Councilman David Pressley seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, 5‑0. The resolution states the budget is effective July 1, 2026, and ends June 30, 2027.
The resolution as adopted incorporates the Rates and Fees Schedule for FY2027 and adopts the “Personnel Position Classification and Pay Plan” pursuant to the City Charter (Section 3.16). The resolution also authorizes the mayor, city manager and city clerk to execute documents necessary to enact the actions authorized by the council with adoption of the budget.
The council opened a public hearing on the proposed budget at 5:00 PM; with no oral or written comments offered, Councilman David Pressley moved to close the hearing at 5:01 PM and the motion passed. With adoption complete, the FY2027 budget will take effect on July 1, 2026.
