Heritage Pines board approves additional cleanup and mulching at area '33'

The Heritage Pines CDD board approved a proposal Dec. 10 to perform additional cleanup at the area identified in the minutes as '33,' including perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees and mulching.
District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan. District Engineer Kurt Heath advised the board that the central portion of the site contains a natural wetland, there is an excavated retention area on the western side and a south slope that is difficult to mow with equipment; the optional scope includes weed-whacker work on the dry retention slope and was recommended despite not impeding drainage.
Supervisor Kathleen Lonergan asked that maps be provided to Supervisor Stephen Putman. The board approved the proposal, including the optional scope of work, on a motion by Michael Walsh seconded by Stephen Putman; the minutes state the invoice will be paid upon completion.
HPCA Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz confirmed that brown bark wood chips are available but that free wood chips are an option for mulching; he also said he will inspect native-grass loss at Hole 2 and advise the board.
