Resident complaints prompt engineer review of Pinehurst drainage and retention pond

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District board that, a week after a street drain was plugged, drainage problems persist and water is overflowing in the triangle monument area. Perkins said a retention pond that drains between River 8 and River 9 appears nonfunctional and is ponding nearly 1 foot above the drain.
District Engineer John Baker said the inlet had been plugged to stop water from an upper system from pushing through into a lower system. “The inlet was plugged, which means there is no longer a pushing action with water coming out; however, there is no place for the water to go and it is essentially akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe,” Baker said. He recommended photographs and video to document flooding and said resolving the issue will likely require additional study.
The board asked Ms. Perkins to provide video footage and directed staff to have the District Engineer view the drainage firsthand. Chuck Adams, the district manager, explained that the pipes in question run between two houses, across the street and golf course, and discharge into the Estero River.
The discussion identified the specific area of concern (the Pinehurst monument and a retention pond between River 8 and River 9) and produced two follow-up steps: residents will provide visual evidence and the District Engineer will inspect and report back with recommendations. No formal motion or funding decision was made at the meeting.
