The administrator said the district’s goal was to create stability after a period of frequent leadership changes.
Casey addressed the board and described her long connection to the district and her commitment to students. She said her father passed away the night before the meeting and that she was at the meeting because she believed he "would want me to be here," and she promised to be "that champion" for students. Later in her remarks she said, "Now I'm the principal."
Trustee Sarah Wilson moved to approve the superintendent’s recommendation; Trustee Dee seconded. The motion passed 7–0 as recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the appointment during the meeting; administrators said they would continue work to support the school’s culture and programs.
