Council meeting roundup: consent items, enforcement, comp plan review and Crown Castle update

The Tetonia City Council addressed several routine and informational items at its Oct. 8 meeting, including consent agenda approvals, code enforcement updates, a discussion about updating the Comprehensive Plan and a Crown Castle sublease notice.
Consent agenda: Council approved September 2024 claims (Mandy Rasmussen moved, Ryan Bonilla seconded) and approved the September minutes with clerical edits (Bonilla moved, Blaine Ball seconded). Past-due accounts were discussed but no action was taken. Staff will gather more information about power usage at the Rodeo Grounds.
Code enforcement and staff reports: Verbal reports were given by the city clerk and public works. Enforcement actions included a Rabbit refuse pile blocking an alley (about 3 feet tall by 50 feet long); enforcement letters will be sent. Two camper complaints were followed up on and both were found to have building permits. Staff reported recent vandalism at the Rodeo Grounds crow's nest; the sheriff's department is pursuing charges.
Comprehensive Plan: Rob reviewed the role of the Comprehensive Plan, noting Tetonia's plan has not been updated since 2009 and state guidance recommends reviewing or updating plans every five to 10 years. Rob will return to the November meeting with a more detailed recommendation and scope for public input.
Other items: Council heard that Crown Castle will sublease the existing cell tower under the terms of its contract. Staff reminded council and staff to complete required cybersecurity training. Mayor Brent Schindler announced upcoming staff leave, a mayor's walking challenge and an auditor visit planned for December.
The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m after a motion by Aaron Hansen and a second by Blaine Ball.
