Resident asks council to help reconnect property to city utilities

David Castle (speaker 9) addressed the council about a family property with a meter pit that is not connected to the newly run waterline and that lacks a current sewer lateral. He said the prior superintendent told the family the property had been marked abandoned without notice, and that the family has continuously paid taxes and seeks to restore service so they can occupy the property.
Castle asked what steps are necessary to connect the trailer to city sewer and water. Council members and staff committed to investigating the site: staff said they would review video footage of the sewer lines, look for the lateral on system maps, and determine whether a grinder pump or other service solution is required. The council advised the resident that if the connection had been removed during prior line work the family may need to pursue standard reconnection procedures and permits, and that staff will research legal and technical avenues.
Council asked staff to follow up with Castle directly after reviewing the available infrastructure video and records and to report back with next steps.
