Lindenhurst board approves bills, accepts treasurer's report; recognizes staff and hears public comments

At its Jan. 10 meeting the Village of Lindenhurst board approved routine financial items, heard staff reports and brief public comments, and met briefly in executive session to review prior executive-session minutes.
Trustee Pat Dunham moved to approve the first set of bills for January in the amount of $625,228.85 for invoices due on or before Jan. 10, 2022; Trustee Ron Grace seconded and the motion passed on a 4-0 roll call vote. Village Treasurer Carrie Eggleston read the Treasurer's Report for December 2021, which the board approved; the minutes record a combined ending balance of $12,391,533.86 in village accounts as of Dec. 31, 2021.
Village Administrator Clay Johnson reported staff submitted a DCEO grant application for the Slove Park redevelopment plan and announced Lindenhurst's recognition by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in partnership with Virginia Tech for strategic-plan documents. Police Chief Tom Jones and Operations Director Kevin Klahs recognized staff and thanked the community for holiday support; Public Works was acknowledged for timely snow-and-ice response and continued use of pre-wetting salt.
During public comment a resident suggested adding PACE bus service along Grand Avenue to better serve residents and businesses, and another resident submitted an email about sidewalk snow removal around BJ Hooper Elementary School. The board then moved into executive session to perform a statutorily required review of prior executive-session minutes pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21); the board returned to regular session later the same evening and adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
No additional formal actions beyond those recorded above were taken when the meeting reconvened.
