Mayfield Independent School Board expels “Student C,” will provide services through May 2026

The Mayfield Independent School Board determined on Oct. 2, 2025, that “Student C” will be expelled, while services for the student will continue through May 2026 when the board will review progress and placement.

Board Chair Lorane Smith called the special meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. at the Mayfield Board Office and the board entered executive session immediately to conduct a student-discipline hearing. The board returned to open session at 5:53 p.m.; after that first session the board deferred action on the case with the student’s family’s agreement and adjourned the early portion of the meeting at 5:54 p.m.

At 7:09 p.m. the motion to enter the second executive session was made by Larry Jackson, seconded by Michelle Arnett, and approved unanimously; the motion to return to open session at 7:15 p.m. was moved by Jackson and seconded by Arnett and approved unanimously. The meeting concluded with an adjournment at 7:15 p.m., moved by Martha Wynstra and seconded by Joe Green.
