Council hears plan to form UGB Re-Look advisory committee; city seeks applicants

Interim City Manager Rob Drake updated the North Plains City Council on the proposed approach to a re-examination of the city’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB). Drake said the city is assembling a Re-Look Advisory Committee (RAC) to guide the UGB amendment process, that several positions remain unfilled, and that the city will continue accepting applications with the aim of completing the committee by the end of September. He said the city will maintain a webpage with meeting materials and updates related to the UGB re-look.
Planner Steve Faust presented the proposed approach to the RAC and answered councilors’ questions about the process. Councilors asked clarifying questions about membership and timing; no formal votes or policy decisions were recorded at the Sept. 3 meeting.
Councilors and staff emphasized transparency and public access to materials as the committee is formed and meetings commence.
