Green Lake board approves road work, sets cemetery lot price and OKs multiple liquor licenses

The Town of Green Lake Town Board on June 8, 2026 approved a package of routine business and project contracts, including road bids and a standardized cemetery lot price.
Chairman Moderow called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board approved the agenda, the minutes of the May 11, 2026 meeting and vouchers and bills. The Treasurer’s report, reviewed during the meeting, listed $19,463.94 in credits and $178,082.63 in debits; the board approved the report and a transfer of $27,337.50 to the general account to pay bills.
The board heard a maintenance report noting crews used nearly four tons of cold mix on recent road repairs and that the county’s crack-filling program is delayed until October. Staff said they will repaint yellow center lines as weather allows, and three low-profile 30-yard dumpsters will be delivered June 12 for the town’s bulk-waste pickup. A washout at Welks Landing was reported under investigation and a culvert on Fiegel Road was described as rotted at the bottom, which damaged the shoulder though the roadway remains passable.
On cemetery pricing, Board member Berndt moved and Strelow seconded a motion to standardize gravesite pricing at $250 per lot; the motion carried. The board recorded the change without additional detail on whether existing lots or categories would be grandfathered.
The board accepted contractor bids for this year’s road program. Chairman Moderow said he had spoken with Lukasz, who requested additional time on some bids; nonetheless the board accepted Fahrner’s bids for work on McAfee Road, Boelter Road and Utley Road and accepted Scotts’ bid for a double chip seal on Fiegel Road. Separately, the board accepted a $5,500 bid for repair of the Fiegel Road culvert. The minutes record motions to accept the road construction bids by Strelow, seconded by Moderow, and to accept the culvert bid (Strelow/Moderow); motions carried. (The meeting minutes use both the spellings “Fiefel” and “Fiegel” for similarly described locations; the minutes appear inconsistent on that road name.)
The board also approved multiple liquor and operator licenses. The approved agents and associated businesses listed in the minutes included Kimberly Schertz (agent for Center House LLC), Shanda Farr (agent for R & S Lakeview Inn), Patricia L. Beuthin (agent for Beuthin’s Walker Bar & Grill) and Anthony Goebel (agent for Little Adventure Vacation Rentals LLC). The minutes describe a 10,000-square-foot designated outside area at N2811 Park Road, Markesan, WI for the Little Adventure Vacation Rentals site that would include a food truck, tiki bar, temporary event tents, boat slips and portable serving bars; overnight alcohol storage is to be inside locked tiki-bar storage or the food truck. The minutes additionally note that the existing building at that address is described in the minutes as an unlicensed hotel facility; the minutes do not provide further detail or state any enforcement action.
The board voted to go into a closed session for an employment review (motion by Strelow, seconded by Berndt), later returned to open session (motion by Moderow, seconded by Berndt), and adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The minutes were signed by the chairman and the clerk (the clerk’s name is not specified in the minutes).
