Hines police report 169 calls in past 30 days; new officer to begin Jan. 23

Sgt. Michael Mitchell reported to the Hines Common Council that over the previous 30 days the police department handled 169 calls for service, providing a category breakdown for the Council.
Mitchell listed incident types including seven domestic‑violence calls, two trespassing reports, three thefts, nine suspicious‑person calls, 17 citizen assists, two DUIIs, one major assault (taken over from Burns Police Department), one death and one suspected drug case. "Officer Radinovich did an awesome job," Mitchell said about the response to the larger case.
He told the Council the department is adapting to a new records system (Flex), noted the new patrol vehicle is arriving and described ongoing maintenance issues with an older Tahoe while staff collect quotes to repair or replace it. Mitchell announced that new Officer Kelby Kautz will be sworn in on Jan. 21 and begin his first shift on Jan. 23 after a period of training alongside Sgt. Mitchell and Officer Radinovich.
The Council did not take any votes on police staffing or equipment at the Jan. 13 meeting; reports were informational.
