Hines council approves two local business licenses, community donations and work truck purchase

The Hines Common Council on Jan. 13 approved two new local business licenses, small community donations and the purchase of a replacement work truck for City maintenance.
Eric and Tara Woodworth gained approval to operate Woodworth Logging, Inc., including a small sawmill to produce firewood and boards for local sale. "We'll sell firewood and boards," Eric Woodworth said while describing the business's plans to serve customers in town. Councilor Hilda Allison moved to approve the license; Councilor Dean Brizendine seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Nicholas and Racheal Coleman were also granted a local business license for Coleman Painting Company, LLC. The couple told the Council they moved to the area from Roseburg and carry CCB licensure and insurance; Councilor Brizendine moved to approve and Councilor Kim Valentine seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Bettina Bowman, auction chair for Crossroads Ranch, requested city support for the nonprofit's 10th annual dinner. The Council voted to sponsor a table for $200. Diane Ross, fundraising chair for the Burns Hilander Booster Club, asked for support for the Booster Club's crab feed; the Council approved a $100 utility bill voucher as a donation.
On capital equipment, City Administrator Roxane Worley presented quotes to replace the City's aging 2014 maintenance truck. The Council authorized purchase of a 2026 Ford F‑350 from Burns Ford for $58,500 (fleet discount and a five‑year/60,000‑mile warranty); the City will retain the old truck rather than trading it in. Councilor Dean Brizendine moved to approve the purchase and Councilor Misty Shepherd seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
All motions recorded at the meeting passed on unanimous votes. The Council also discussed tabling a Chamber membership renewal decision to allow further clarification of member benefits and advertising expectations.
The Council adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
