Wilson's Mills previews $4.95 million FY2026–27 budget, schedules June 15 public hearing

Town Manager Leighanna Worley told the Wilson's Mills Town Council on May 18 that the proposed FY2026–27 budget totals $4,951,361 and that council will formally take public comment at a public hearing the town scheduled for June 15.
Worley said the town will no longer receive American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the coming fiscal year and said the FY2026–27 draft budget includes new positions: a full-time police lieutenant and a school resource officer for Wilson's Mills High School. She said salary grades were adjusted across departments based on comparative data, the budget includes up to a 5 percent employer match for employee 401(k) contributions, and health insurance premiums are anticipated to increase about 9.5 percent with dental rising about 8.5 percent.
Councilmember Tim Brown moved and Councilmember Carolyn Dobbin seconded calling a public hearing on the proposed budget for June 15, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall; the motion carried unanimously. Worley said the full budget message and draft are available for public review in the Town Clerk's office and that she will present the complete budget message at the council's next meeting.
Next steps: Town staff will publish notice and hold the public hearing on June 15 before final council action on the budget.
