Kearney parks schedule World Cup watch party and pursues Lions Park grant for accessible play

Eric Marshall said the city is hopeful it will receive a Lions Park International Grant to install pour-in-place surfacing, add six to seven new sensory pieces and provide a wheelchair swing; staff expected to hear about the grant in May. Marshall indicated these improvements would increase accessibility at Lions Park.
Marshall also updated the board that recreational basketball programming will conclude at the end of February and reported no major problems during the season.
The board did not take votes on event programming or the grant application during the meeting; both remain at the staff and application stage.
