Kearney staff to meet Nov. 4 on Hall Park schedule and cost analysis

Eric Marshall, a parks department staff member, told the Kearney Park Board that staff will meet with consultants Vireo and Veenstra & Kimm on Nov. 4 to review a revised schedule and an updated cost analysis for the Hall Park project and to turn site plans over to the city.
The meeting aims to finalize documents that, once reviewed, will be forwarded to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) for approval. Following LWCF approval, staff said bid requests will be advertised. Marshall also said the department will separate the fitness equipment component from the general contractor bid so the equipment can be bid independently to increase flexibility and potentially lower total cost.
Board members were not reported to have taken formal action on the Hall Park items at the meeting; Marshall presented timing and next steps. The separation of the fitness-equipment package could change how vendors are solicited and the schedule for construction procurements.
Next steps: staff will meet consultants on Nov. 4, submit bid-request documents to LWCF for review, and—pending approval—advertise bids for the project. The board will consider bid results and contract awards at a later meeting.
